Donate your vehicle

Do you have a vehicle, boat, trailer, or RV that is not being used?  Habitat will take your vehicle and turn it into homes for families in our community.  We are looking for vehicles that are in good working order to sell in our Thrift Stores.

To make a donation or discuss your vehicle with our store manager, please call 352-483-0434 ext 22 or email our store manager.  If you are missing the title, you can get one through the Department of Motor Vehicles in the state where the vehicle is registered.

Please be advised:  Up until the end of 2004, when donating a vehicle, the donor could deduct the "fair market value" from their taxes (this still applies to vehicles that will be used by the affiliate as a fleet vehicle.)  Starting on Jan. 1, 2005, the donor is able to deduct the greater of $500 or the amount that the charity sold the car for at retail or wholesale, less repair costs.  Visit the IRS for tax information.  Use Publication 526 (donating property) or Publication 561 (valuing property).  When filing, you will need to submit IRS form 8283 for donated property.  Habitat will provide you with the necessary tax receipt information.
