How can I get involved?

Volunteers are a very valuable part of our work for being successful at Lake- Sumter Habitat .  We could not build homes, operate four thrift stores or continue the mission of a better community without YOU! For more information please call the volunteer coordinator at  483-0434 ext.13 or volunteer@habitat-lakesumterfl.org  .

We need skilled and unskilled construction workers, retail workers and office help to fill the many positions available to our local residents. The age for volunteering is 14 years and up.

We provide community service opportunities for skilled and unskilled individuals needing community service  hours for school programs, county and government programs  or any other related service in Lake and Sumter Counties .

Construction Help

If you have never participated in a build before, you are missing out. Everyone's help is greatly appreciated -there's something for everyone to do.  And the fellowship is awesome!  You never know who you will find working beside you!!

Thrift Stores:

Habitat operates four thrift stores - one in Wildwood, Leesburg, Eustis and Clermont - that sell donated merchandise.  Volunteers are needed to sort, price & display items, to answer the phone, to run the cash register and help customers. Thrift Store proceeds cover all of our administrative overhead and help sponsor homes.

Stamp program:

Volunteers are needed to help soak, dry and sort used postage stamps.  These stamps are then sold to collectors as a fundraiser for Habitat.

Office Help:

Volunteers are needed to help in the office with filing, calling volunteers, and updating the database.  This is done during normal working hours Monday through Friday.

Committees:

Volunteers are needed on a variety of committees to "get the job done".  If you have an interest in serving on a committee (Family Partner, Family Selection, Construction, Development, Site Selection), please let the volunteer coordinator know.
